Overview: Electrical Infrastructure Installation for Dog Food Production Plant
FTI was contracted by FreshPet, a dog food manufacturer, to install the core and shell electrical infrastructure at their new plant, including power distribution and connections to processing equipment. The scope of the work included expanding the main electrical service, installing distribution panels, conduit, cable trays and wiring systems, as well as integrating specialized manufacturing equipment to support continuous production. FTI’s work provided the backbone for both the building’s essential operations and the advanced systems required for dog food production.
Challenges: Supervision Changes and Delivery Delays
Changes in supervision during the project made coordination more difficult. Additionally, equipment delivery delays put the scheduled setup of key components at risk.
Solutions: Collaboration and Cost‑Effective Solutions to Ensure Project Efficiency
To increase productivity after supervisory changes, the team adjusted their procedures and techniques, keeping the project on track. They also leveraged FTI’s vendor relationships to secure timely material deliveries and encouraged competitive bidding on major buyouts to reduce material costs. By coordinating closely with the owner, general contractor and equipment suppliers, FTI ensured that the facility was built to meet the high demands of a food processing environment, with safety and reliability as top priorities.
