Overview: Energy-Efficient LED Lighting Upgrade
An investment firm sought FTI’s expertise to analyze the electrical systems of a large distribution warehouse in Boise, Idaho. This facility provided an excellent opportunity to showcase our capabilities, plus it’s conveniently located across the street from FTI’s Boise office. Through FTI’s preconstruction work with ESI General Contracting, we secured a contract to upgrade all exterior high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting to energy-efficient LED lighting.
As the exterior improvements were underway, a new tenant, The AZEK® Company – a TimberTech Company, was identified. Headquartered in Chicago, AZEK specializes in manufacturing and distributing composite and polymer decking. To leverage the growing residential housing market in Boise, AZEK decided to expand its operations at this location.
During the early planning stages, FTI’s preconstruction and engineering teams collaborated with AZEK to understand their operational needs and identify opportunities to add value. Estimating managers, alongside the preconstruction and engineering teams, played a crucial role in advancing the project, showcasing FTI’s expertise and aligning with AZEK’s expansion goals.
Challenge: Overcoming Supply Chain Delays
The project faced significant supply chain delays that threatened to disrupt progress. However, thanks to the flexibility and strategic planning of the 12-member FTI team, we successfully overcame these challenges, completing the project on time, within budget and without any safety incidents.
Solutions: Crucial Support and Onsite Installation
The FTI team remained actively involved as AZEK progressed through the initial construction phase, providing crucial support for the onsite installation of key processing equipment, such as dryer lines and pellet mills. These mills blend wood and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to create pellets, which are then dried and extruded into boards. Our early involvement and consistent engagement helped build a strong foundation of trust with AZEK.
As AZEK continues to expand its professional and manufacturing staff at the new facility, we have begun exploring opportunities for FTI to provide ongoing support.
