Microgrid/RNG Facility Recognized for Environmental Stewardship
Menasha, Wis. – Faith Technologies Incorporated (FTI) a national leader in engineering, construction, manufacturing and clean energy, has been named a Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC). FTI was recognized in the Environmental Stewardship category for its digester facility located in Middleton, Wisconsin.
Utilizing anaerobic digestion, the Middleton facility turns animal waste from local dairy farms into renewable natural gas (RNG). The RNG is injected into the pipeline in Madison and used in the transportation sector on the West Coast to provide clean-burning vehicle fuel. RNG from dairy manure can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 400% when it is used to replace traditional vehicle fuels. In addition, a solar energy microgrid with battery storage helps power the facility, adding more than 2.8 MW of clean energy – the equivalent of powering more than 400 homes.
“We’re very proud to be recognized by WMC for our environmental efforts at the Middleton digester facility,” said Mike Jansen, CEO. “FTI is committed to the development and optimization of clean-energy solutions that benefit the environment, providing impact today and for generations to come.”
“Wisconsin’s economy depends on industry leaders who go above and beyond to use sustainable and environmentally friendly business practices,” said WMC Director of Environmental & Energy Policy, Craig Summerfield. “WMC is proud to recognize these companies who prioritize environmental protection as they grow their businesses and build Wisconsin’s future.”
